Nurse who suffers chronic tailbone pain

I am a Registered Nurse who has suffered with tailbone pain for over 8 years. Like all chronic pain, it is essential that sufferers get the correct support, diagnosis and treatment appropriate for them as an individual. This blog follows my journey with chronic pain, it expresses my personal opinions and thoughts. It is not intended as a replacement for advice or treatment from your normal Healthcare Provider.

Hospital Appointment

I had to take 'time owing' for my hospital appointment on Thursday. So when I found they had booked me in with the wrong consultant I was rather annoyed, to say the least. This was due to the fact that my GP had still not got round to writing and/or sending a letter to the hospital. So the hospital booked me in with a doctor with the same surname as the one I was actually meant to be seeing, but whose speciality was not what I was there for.

I now have a new appointment, with the correct consultant on July 7th, and my GP has apologised and promised the referral will be done this time.

Pain wise it's as bad as ever. Mainly my piriformis, but that's because I can't sit on my coccyx, so I am left with sitting on my buttocks, so they take the strain. The acupuncture and deep tissue massage still don't seem to be doing anything, at least not noticeably. I'd like to say 'yet', but am loosing heart really. I see my physio again on Tuesday.
