Nurse who suffers chronic tailbone pain

I am a Registered Nurse who has suffered with tailbone pain for over 8 years. Like all chronic pain, it is essential that sufferers get the correct support, diagnosis and treatment appropriate for them as an individual. This blog follows my journey with chronic pain, it expresses my personal opinions and thoughts. It is not intended as a replacement for advice or treatment from your normal Healthcare Provider.

Physio number 11

Yesterday's physio session went well. There is definite improvement. The tight and knotted muscles I had are much improved. There were only a couple of areas externally that were tender. The physio did some deep tissue massage again for about 20 minutes.

My problem now is that my coccyx pain is clouded by deep pain on my right side which radiates through to my buttock. This will be my coil or cyst. At least I know this now. Today this pain is bad :-( It's really hard to focus on anything else. Or to truly know how improved my coccydynia is. The physio agrees this will be 'stirring everything up'. Obviously with the examinations I've had over the last week I've been holding a lot of tension in my pelvis which hasn't helped.

I'm therefore trying to concentrate more on my relaxation techniques than exercising my pelvic floor.

I'm also thinking of paying to go privately for my surgery as I just want the coil and cyst out. I want to know how my coccydynia is without anything clouding the picture. I'm hoping once I get it done my coccydynia will improve. The pain I have in my right side is currently worse than my coccyx pain.
