Nurse who suffers chronic tailbone pain

My photo
I am a Registered Nurse who has suffered with tailbone pain for over 8 years. Like all chronic pain, it is essential that sufferers get the correct support, diagnosis and treatment appropriate for them as an individual. This blog follows my journey with chronic pain, it expresses my personal opinions and thoughts. It is not intended as a replacement for advice or treatment from your normal Healthcare Provider.

So, so sore since the GP tried to remove my coil yesterday. It is my coccyx pain, only ten times worse if that's possible! :-( I'm really cross. I guess it shows the chances are it may well be related. I just want the damn thing out now, and she's told me I may have to wait 4 weeks for a scan to see where the coil is positioned. She certainly has just aggravated the whole area.

The pain is in my right side at the front, but the worse pain radiates from my coccyx into my right buttock. It is intense, like a deep ache, almost like it's going into spasm. I cannot find words that exactly describe the pain.

It kept me awake last night, I took Tramadol, nurofen and paracetamol, then out of desperation half a sleeping tablet. All to no avail.

On a plus: I had a nice day at work. No lunch break, but that's normal with nursing. Lovely patients and a rewarding day. Helped take my mind off my own worries. My sit/stand station is a great help. And I have a lovely new chair with a coccyx cut out and memory foam. Although, I am definitely detecting some resentment with some colleagues, which I don't understand. If it was me, I know I'd just feel sorry for the person involved. But you can't win them all.

So, heat pad is once again my best friend.
