Nurse who suffers chronic tailbone pain

My photo
I am a Registered Nurse who has suffered with tailbone pain for over 8 years. Like all chronic pain, it is essential that sufferers get the correct support, diagnosis and treatment appropriate for them as an individual. This blog follows my journey with chronic pain, it expresses my personal opinions and thoughts. It is not intended as a replacement for advice or treatment from your normal Healthcare Provider.

Attempts at pain relief

Attempts at pain relief
Last night the pain was unbearable. I think because of avoiding sitting on my tailbone, the pain now also radiates into my sitting bones, buttocks, hip and down my right leg. So now, I cannot sit on my coccyx or my right buttock :-(
I am pinning all my hopes on the new physiotherapist on Friday. Trouble is, every time I see someone new I think they will be the magical answer to this pain. I think this is what keeps people with chronic pain going- the hope that someone or something will eventually offer a solution.
Last night I eventually managed to get to sleep on my back with a combination of Voltarol, Co-Codamol, Deep Heat and red wine!! Not a combination I would recommend obviously.
Various sites such as coccyx.org and Facebooks Coccyx Pain Support Group are helpful resources and offer a chance to 'discuss' things with fellow sufferers.
Luckily I have a very supportive and sympathetic husband and daughter.
